Oakville Celebrates Local Olympians Saturday Sept. 15, 2012

As our local Olympians have returned home,  Mayor Burton had a great idea to unite out town in celebration of their athletic achievements on the world stage.

Representing Canada in the London 2012 Olympics and bringing home recognition, memories and medals, our Olympians will be celebrated this Saturday, September 15, 2012 at 2 p.m.

Join Mayor Burton and members of Oakville Town Council and watch the parade along Lakeshore Road starting at Reynolds Street and ending near Lakeshore Road and Navy Street at Centennial Square, Oakville Ontario.

Our Olympians will be on hand to sign autographs at Centennial Square.  There is also a shuttle from the Oakville GO station which starts operating at 1 p.m. on Saturday. The shuttles return to the GO starting at 3:30 p.m. after the festivities. until 4:30 p.m.

Adam van Koeverden         Silver medal winner in Men’s Kayak Single (K-1) 1000m

Douglas Csima         Silver medal winner in the Rowing Men’s Eight

Diana Matheson         Bronze medal team winner  in Women’s Football (and she scored the winning goal!)  Diana was also at the recent Panama soccer game and FIFA qualifiers in Toronto along with her teammates.

Mark Oldershaw Bronze medal winner in the Men’s Canoe Single (C-1) 1000m

Kyle Jones         Men’s Triathlon

Tera Van Beilen         Women’s 100m Breaststroke         Women’s 200m Breaststroke         Women’s 4x100m Medley Relay
