Oakville’s May Court Club will reopen their Nearly New Shop on September 29th. Come find some wonderful bargains and support local charities.  The shop is located at 200 Kerr Street in Oakville.

Looking to run a small business and thinking of exporting?  Halton Region is offering a small business seminar to help you understand the programs, services and resources they have available.  Learn about practical issues, market research, export planning and readiness.  The times are from 6:30-8:30 pm at the Halton Regional Centre, 1151 Bronte Road.  The cost is $25.

oct oakville blogThe Oakville Farmer’s Market is held every Saturday until October 31st.  The location is Centennial Square at 120 Navy Street in downtown Oakville.  From 8 am to 2 pm you can find fresh, local produce, food, products, flowers and baked goods.

Discover tastes of the region at the Halton Harvest, taking place in Milton on October 4th.  For the cost of $30, you can sample dishes created from local chefs using ingredients from local farmers. There will be live music, artisanal market plus local craft brews and wines.  The address is 8560 Tremaine Road in Milton.

You have probably seen him on America’s Got Talent or Deal or No Deal.  One of Toronto’s favorite sons, comedian Howie Mandel is coming to the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts.  Guaranteed to be funny and entertaining, the show takes place at 8 pm on October 6th.  Be sure to make pre-show dinner reservations at one of the wonderful downtown restaurants in Oakville.  Tickets can be purchased here: http://www.oakvillecentre.ca

Flu season is around the corner and Halton Region Health Department is offering a flu clinic on October 15th, from 9 am -3 pm for seniors and anyone with a greater risk of complications. The clinic will be at 263 Kerr Street.

Home Sweet Hope is having its 9th Annual Empty Bowls Event.  Enjoy culinary delights from local chefs and keep the hand painted bowl. The event takes place on October 18th from 12-3pm at 1080 Linbrook Road.  The cost is $30-60 which includes the soup tastings and live entertainment, with profits going to help the homeless.  Get tickets by calling (905) 802-7451.

Kids can get ready for Halloween with fun crafts and events at the Oakville Public Library.  Kids can learn about Cool Candy Science on October 23rd from 10-11 am. On October 25th from 2-3pm, kids can design and color their own trick or treat pillowcase. On October 27th from 10-11 am, they can make Halloween crafts and hear stories. All events have a nominal cost.  The library is located at 120 Navy Street – downtown.

The Centre for Education and Training is having a Halloween Fun event for Newcomer Children.  Kids aged 3 and up can come to the 171 Speers Road, Suite 20 location to make crafts and participate in fun filled activities.  Cost is free but parents must remain in the facility.  The event takes place October 30th from 10am-12 pm or 2-4pm.
