Bigger Blue Boxes Arrive in Oakville

Large Blue Box Halton
Posted by on March 14, 2013

Need a bigger blue box?  This is the time you can get one free as Oakville rolls out the new, larger size to accommodate more recycling efforts.  In many households, almost half of the litter can now be recycled.  That is a good thing as they are moving toward charging per bag for non-recyclables.

During the special one time Big Blue Box Pickup Event, you can get the new box here:

Saturday, March 16, 2013
    9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

  • Acton District High School, 21 Cedar Road, Acton
  • Acton Public Works Yard, 1 Commerce Crescent, Acton
  • Halton Regional Centre, 1151 Bronte Road, Oakville (enter at North Service Road, not Bronte Road for this event) – note this is not the Waste Facility on Bronte, this is at the regional center near the QEW!

Saturday, March 23, 2013     9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

  • Burlington Closed Landfill, 291 North Service Road, Burlington (west of King Road, east of Waterdown Road)
  • Sheridan College, 1430 Trafalgar Road, Oakville (enter at Sheridan Way/White Oaks Boulevard)

Saturday, March 30, 2013     9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

  • Robert C. Austin Operations Centre, 11620 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown
  • Milton GO Station, 780 Main Street East, Milton (enter at Main Street, not from plaza)

You can pickup your blue box at one of these sites – stay in your car, present proof of address –

Halton Waste Management Site (Scalehouse) 5400 Regional Road 25, Milton Open: Monday – Saturday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Halton Regional Centre 1151 Bronte Road, Oakville  Open: Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Halton North Operations 8140 Fifth Line, RR #3, Georgetown Open: Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Robert C. Austin Operations Centre 11620 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown  Open: Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Now the regular sized blue box is much larger and additional items have been added to the list of recyclables.  There are local pick-up events where you can get them free as well as get a Green Cart. Just bring proof of address/residency.
