It’s that time of year and the crisp fall air will give way to winter soon. Santa is taking advantage of the nice weather and visiting Oakville this weekend.
Festivities begin Friday Nov.16, 2012 with the Tree Lighting ceremony at 7:30 pm in downtown Oakville (Florence/Kerr). The actual celebrations begin at 6pm and go until about 9pm. There will be carollers strolling around Heritage Square, school choirs performing to Christmas music and shops as well as restaurants participating as well.
On Saturday, Nov. 17, the Oakville Santa Claus Parade will take place along Lakeshore Road and Kerr Village. The floats have been in the making for months from a secret location. A local news reporter was able to report from within the secret float building location to find out that it can take weeks to put jewels and other decorations on some of the floats.
Marching bands will be on hand to create a festive atmosphere.
