Adam prefers the 1000m canoe sprint to the 500m or 200m as that is the distance he can best hit his stride.  The 500-metre race has been replaced with a 200-metre sprint in the London 2012 Olympics, so Adam is just racing in the 1,000 m.  Having trained on the lakes of Algonquin Park, he proves that you can love what you do and succeed at it!
Challengers to watch on Wednesday include Germany’s Max Hoff, who is one of the favourites to win.  Current men’s world champions: Canoe sprint K1 1000m Adam Van Koeverden (CAN) and C1 slalom Denis Gargaud Chanut (FRA).
He certainly made his presense known by qualifying for the finals in first place and we wish Adam good luck in the finals!
Adam van Koeverden has won a gold, silver and bronze from prior Olympics. He won gold and bronze, in the K-1 500 metres and K-1 1,000 metres, in Athens as well as a silver medal in the K-1 500 in Beijing, China.
