If you are looking to get a jump on holiday vacation plans, you will want to know when the schools have their breaks this year.
The Halton District School Calendar has set the following dates for the 2011-2012 school year:
The first day of school is Tuesday, September 6, 2011. Winter break will be December 26, 2011 to January 6, 2012, with students returning to class on Monday, January 9, 2012.
March Break will be the 12th to the 16th, The last day of school will be June 28, 2011. Additional holidays include Thanksgiving on October 10th and Family Day on February 20th. Good Friday is on April 6th, Easter Monday is April 9th and Victoria day is May 21st.
Professional activity days for both elementary and secondary schools are as follows: October 7, 2011, November 18, 2011, February 3, 2012, April 27, 2012 and June 29, 2012.
In addition, February 17, 2012 will be a PA day for secondary teachers ONLY and June 8, 2012 will be a PA day for elementary teachers ONLY.
High school examinations for the first semester will be January 26 to February 1, 2012. Second semester exams will be June 21 to June 27, 2012.
For the Halton Catholic School Board, the 2011-2012 school dates are as follows: September 7, 2011? is the first day of school. Christmas break will be December 26, 2011-January 6, 2012 – with students returning January 9th, 2012.
