The New Oakville Hospital is being built
The investment required to realize this state of the art medical facility was over $500-million in recent debt financing overseen by the Hospital Infrastructure Partners which was formed to design, build, finance and maintain the new Oakville 1.8-million-square-foot hospital.
This public-private partnership means the $976-million construction phase can begin at the end of July, 2011. The total cost for this project should approach $1.5-billio with $200-million being contributed by the Town of Oakville which represents a higher than normal share paid by a city for such a project.
The first parts of the work to be completed include
• locating all utilities servicing the site;
• installation of sediment and erosion control fencing;
• digging of temporary storm water management ditches to manage water and increase rainwater retention
• top soil stripping and earth grading.
Some may argue that neighboring communities also should pitch in for a hospital of this size as it will be used by them as well.
