The Joy of Christmas recital by the students of the Gregory Cross Vocal Academy took place at Walton Memorial United Church on Saturday Dec. 15, 2012 at 7 pm.

There were dozens of fabulous vocal performances sung to the piano accompanyment by Linda Fletcher.  The music selection ranged from the more introspective to popular Christmas songs and carols.  The evening opened with Matthew Lozinski entering from the rear of the church with a candle as he sang O Come, O Come Emmanuel.

The first trio of the night was Caroling, Caroling sung by Sonja Dobson, Michelle Fernandes and Heather Woolfrey.  The first half finished off with Christmas Time performed by the vocal group with Sonja Dobson, Heather Woolfrey, Deanna Amodeo, Nerissa Kitney and Oakville’s own Youtube sensation Katrina Pacher of FitForaFeast.

During intermission, a lovely assortment of cookies, cakes and other holiday delights were available for all of the guests.  The second half’s musical selections contained more popular Christmas songs including We Need a Little Christmas, Let it Snow, The Christmas Song, Rudolph, the Red-nosed Reindeer, I’ll Be Home For Christmas, Santa Baby, The Most Wonderful Day of the Year, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas and even Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer.
