Drug Dispensing Machines Fill Prescriptions In Canada

Posted by on November 8, 2011

Drug dispensing machines have withstood the first few years of a pilot program and are now being rolled out on a larger scale.  Not all drugs will be available through the machines and narcotics are not allowed for obvious reasons, but the machines are making inroads as they are very convenient when positioned in doctors’ offices or universities. Even the First Nations are getting into the new machines. Read more about the drug dispensing machines in this Toronto Star article.

See how one high end drug dispensing machine works as they open up the machine and show the inner workings of it.  Many of the machines placed around Ontario, Canada are much smaller than this one and are more “vending machine  like”, but they perform the same function of filling prescriptions instead of making patients trek to the nearest open pharmacy.
