The race is on to add charging stations for the first wave of electric or hybrid cars on the market. Tim Hortons, Oakville has installed an experimental charging station because they know that it takes time to charge a car. Time enough to grab a double-double or a donut! The station is free of charge at 228 Wyecroft Road.
Others are lamenting that GO transit lots should offer recharging stations as that is where the cars are parked!
This partnership between Oakville Hydro and Tim Hortons (as well as the charging station hardware in part provided by Ford) has been commented on favourably. “At this stage, the goal for us is to explore and understand the technology, to see how it can work at our restaurants and how we can, in turn, support our guests who choose to go electric.”
In the GTA, there are currently several charging stations and more coming online all the time.

In the U.S., there are already over 5,000 charging station locations.
One day these vehicle charging stations will be everywhere.
